So you’ve set out to find a branding/advertising agency to help you communicate your story that you’ve been dying to tell. This alone is usually a major decision to make but with so many agencies out there, how do you make the right choice?

From boutique agencies, to multi-national corporations, each outfit has something special to offer. But which company do you select when each of them provides a unique value proposition?

Well, we here at The Bullet want to help with this age-old problem and offer you a 5-step guide to picking an agency that will suit your needs perfectly.

Here are 5 questions you should ask yourself when lining up your potential candidates:

1) Were they easy to find?

If anybody is rated in the field of branding, the only logical conclusion you can draw from this is that they must be able to promote themselves effectively and compellingly too. So a quick and easy search is vital to show that they are experts in communication – making even your first point of contact effortless.

2) Do they have a process and if so, is it easy to understand?

Methodology, procedure and strategy are a must, especially when tackling something as important as your brand. Being in the complex world of branding and communication, showcasing a clear and precise thought process that is easy to understand exhibits accurate and meticulous rationality and avoids you taking creative shots in the dark that could lead your brand down a dangerous path.

3) Do they have a list of successful clients?

Just like in our everyday lives, we are judged by the company we keep. Inquiring about their previous clients and work will give you a clear picture of how they do things and if they indeed to walk the talk.

4) When you engage them, are they fully present?

A relevant agency is one that changes with the times, keeping up-to-date with this ever-changing world of ours. As change is the only constant, beware of such agencies who rest on their laurels, sticking to same-old cookie cutter routine that worked for them once a decade ago.

5) Do they have soul?

Chemistry is key. Do you as an individual make a connection with the team that are in charge of telling your story? And when touching base, are they genuinely interested in you? These are important questions to ask in hopes to create a strong and lasting relationship between the two of you.

If you find yourself ticking all 5 of these boxes when shortlisting an agency, then we think you might have found your perfect match!
